A Few Nice Things Forgiveness Is Not Oct 11 2026

Oct 11, 2026  •  Pastor Keith Moore

What if everything we thought we knew about forgiving was actually getting in the way of experiencing it? This message cuts through five of the most common misconceptions that keep us trapped in bitterness and unable to move forward. We explore the critical difference between forgetting and choosing not to bring a wound to mind any longer, drawing on the profound truth that even God does not erase his memory of our sins but rather chooses not to bring them to His mind once He has forgiven us. That distinction alone has the power to unlock something in us that has been stuck for years. We also wrestle honestly with the difference between forgiving someone and trusting them again, and why God does not require us to immediately restore a relationship simply because we have chosen to release our grip on resentment. Grounded in Ephesians 4:32, which calls us to forgive one another in the same way God in Christ forgave us, we discover that forgiveness is not the same as minimizing harm, rushing back into a broken relationship, or surrendering the right to justice. It is something far more personal, far more powerful, and far more possible than we may have believed.
